Dolly Parton has been left "heartbroken" as raging wildfires sweep across eastern Tennessee, prompting the evacuation of her Dollywood resort.

The city of Gatlinburg and areas of Pigeon Forge, where Dollywood is located, were engulfed in thick smoke on Monday night, as the fires spread from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, prompting local officials to enforce mandatory evacuations.

Dolly Parton has spoken out about the wildfires that have engulfed parts of east Tennessee.

The singer has a theme park, Dollywood, in Pigeon Forge, though she is currently in Los Angeles, where she is filming "The Voice."
However, Dolly Parton has been paying close attention to what's going on back home, she noted Tuesday.

"I have been watching the terrible fires in the Great Smoky Mountains and I am heartbroken," she said in a statement obtained by ABC News. "I am praying for all the families affected by the fire and the firefighters who are working so hard to keep everyone safe. It is a blessing that my Dollywood theme park, the DreamMore Resort and so many businesses in Pigeon Forge have been spared."

Very sad about the fires burning in the Smoky Mountains, in Tennessee, around Dollywood, and all the people who've been affected there. My prayers go up for all the people that have lost their homes, and for those who have been hurt. This is a beautiful song by Dolly that paints just how beautiful the Smoky Mountains really are. It may take a long time for recovery, but I hope it will quickly get back to the way it always has been - a fun, beautiful and peaceful place to live and to vacation. To all my family and friends, around the world, please continue to pray.

As I have heard the news and watched the footage of the horrific fires in my beloved Smokies (my ancestral home) and prayed for the many family members, friends, loved ones, residents, visitors and emergency workers there, this beautiful song by Dolly Parton just keeps running through my mind. Have to admit that this tragedy has made me want to cry, and this song expresses why.
